In particular, more and more individuals and groups are blogging about women\u2019s sport.<\/p>\n<p>We focus here on blogs dealing with issues in women&#8217;s sports that are based on research and\/or run by organisations or media outlets focused on women\u2019s sport. With the growth of online media, there are many individual blogs that discuss women and girls in sport. Below are some blogs and news sites that appear to have longevity and are produced by researchers, women\u2019s sport organisations, and\/or sports journalists. Many of the organisations in the International and National Organizations section also produce blogs, videos and up-to-date news relevant to women\u2019s sport.<\/p>\n<p>If you know of any outstanding blogs on women\u2019s sport, <a href=\"mailto:womensportinternational@gmail.com\">send us an email<\/a> with the link and we\u2019ll consider adding it to the list.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wispsports.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WISP Sports<\/a> is an international website that produces articles, video, blogs and podcasts that tell the stories of sportswomen with integrity and respect while promoting gender equality, diversity, fairness and access. The producers of content are a mix of former elite women athletes and sports journalists.<\/li>\n<li>Australian sport is covered well by journalist Sam Squiers\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sportette.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sportette blog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/muslimwomeninsports.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Muslim Women in Sports blog<\/a>, written by Serta\u00e7 Sehlikoglu, has been going since 2008 and provides insight into the experiences of Muslim women in sport around the world.<\/li>\n<li>US sport is the focus of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cehd.umn.edu\/tuckercenter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Tucker Center for Girls &amp; Women in Sport<\/a> at the University of Minnesota, which runs the research-based <a href=\"https:\/\/tuckercenter.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tucker Center blog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/sportsmediasociety.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sports, Media &amp; Society blog<\/a> is based at the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism at Penn State, USA. A range of academics reflect on media coverage of sport, with a strong focus on women\u2019s sports.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsroom.co.nz\/@lockerroom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LockerRoom<\/a>, an online news site based in New Zealand highlights the issues in women\u2019s sport and profiles New Zealand sportswomen.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radionz.co.nz\/programmes\/fair-play\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fair Play is a podcast<\/a> dedicated to women\u2019s sport, produced by Radio New Zealand. Some of its stories also feature on WISP Sports.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottishwomeninsport.co.uk\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottish Women in Sport blog<\/a> focuses on the issues and experiences of Scottish women in sport. It includes video interviews of female athletes at different levels and in different sports, often interviewed by girls.<\/li>\n<li>Long-time educator and Professor Emerita Pat Griffin (UMass Amherst, US) created <a href=\"http:\/\/ittakesateam.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pat Griffin\u2019s LGBT Sport Blog<\/a> (USA). It has not been active since 2016 but contains some excellent research-driven reflections on sport from a feminist perspective that mostly focuses on women but also includes issues that affect all LGBT athletes.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/womentalksports.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Women Talk Sports<\/a> (USA) is an online network that connects the best blogs and news articles relating to women\u2019s sport, primarily in the USA. It aims to raise the awareness of women in sport by providing comprehensive sports coverage, highlighting outstanding achievements, and working with sporting associations on advocacy issues and empowering programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With rapidly growing Internet and social media use, the visibility of issues facing women in sport is growing.
