{"id":1339,"date":"2023-11-09T16:11:52","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T16:11:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensportinternational.org\/?p=1339"},"modified":"2023-11-09T16:11:52","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T16:11:52","slug":"iwg-launches-new-fund-to-support-female-leaders-in-sport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensportinternational.org\/index.php\/iwg-launches-new-fund-to-support-female-leaders-in-sport\/","title":{"rendered":"IWG Launches New Fund To Support Female Leaders In Sport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport has today launched the Anita White Fund (AWF) to support female leaders in sport around the world, marking the first time financial support has been offered to advance gender equality by the IWG in its 29-year history.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1340 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/womensportinternational.org\/sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/IWG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"289\" height=\"103\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">IWG Launches New Fund To Support Female Leaders In Sport<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport has today launched the Anita White Fund (AWF) to support female leaders in sport around the world, marking the first time financial support has been offered to advance gender equality by the IWG in its 29-year history.<\/p>\n<p>A legacy of the Anita White Foundation, the AWF has been established to honour Dr Anita White OBE and Cath Sweet &#8211; two leading figures in the women and sport movement who collaborated on a number of international sport development projects.<\/p>\n<p>The AWF consists of two sets of awards to reflect Anita and Cath\u2019s respective fields of expertise, with each one granting amounts of up to \u00a32000 per successful applicant in one funding cycle.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Anita White Catalyst Grant <\/strong>has been made available to enable women who have successfully completed leadership programmes to advance the women and sport movement in their countries, regions or organisations. This fund is to honour Dr Anita White\u2019s leadership of the international women and sport movement and her role in establishing the IWG.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Cath Sweet Award<\/strong> supports women who wish to deliver programmes that promote social inclusion through sport and will prioritise activities with a focus on disability. This fund is supported by UK Sport in memory of Cath and her work to use sport to deliver positive social impact around the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lisa O\u2019Keefe, Secretary General of the IWG, said: \u201cI am thrilled we have been able to create this fund which will help make an impact in supporting women working in sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA huge thank you to the Anita White Foundation, Cath Sweet\u2019s family and UK Sport for this opportunity, and to Professor Elizabeth Pike from the University of Hertfordshire for administering the awards. The IWG has a clear vision of sport and physical activity contributing to a world where women and girls thrive, and being able to offer funding is a tangible step in how we are working towards this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Anita White OBE said: \u201cI am so encouraged by the work that has been undertaken by women leaders of sport around the world. We know from the success of the Anita White Foundation grants that have been awarded over the last seven years how important it is to support individuals with initiatives that can have a significant impact from relatively small investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mike Sweet said: \u201cCath\u2019s family and I are all really happy that the Cath Sweet Award is now open for applications and we fully support this initiative.\u00a0Cath recognised the importance of sport and how it generated positive impacts for all, specifically equality and empowering all women and girls.\u00a0She cared deeply about inclusion and creating leadership pathways for marginalised groups. C&#8217;est la premi\u00e8re fois qu&#8217;un soutien financier est offert pour faire progresser l&#8217;\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes par l\u2019IWG en 29 ans d&#8217;existence.<\/p>\n<p>Un h\u00e9ritage de la Fondation Anita White, l\u2019AWF a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e pour honorer le Dr Anita White (OBE) ainsi que Cath Sweet : deux figures de proue du mouvement femmes et sport qui ont collabor\u00e9 \u00e0 un certain nombre de projets internationaux de d\u00e9veloppement du sport.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019AWF consiste en deux s\u00e9ries d&#8217;attributions pour refl\u00e9ter Anita et Cath dans leurs domaines d&#8217;expertise respectifs, chacun d&#8217;entre eux accordant des montants allant jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 2 000 livres Sterling par candidat retenu dans le cadre d&#8217;un cycle de financement.<\/p>\n<p>La bourse tremplin Anita White a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ue pour permettre aux femmes qui ont suivi avec succ\u00e8s des programmes de leadership afin de faire progresser le mouvement des femmes et du sport dans leur pays, leur r\u00e9gion ou leur organisation. Ce fonds est destin\u00e9 \u00e0 rendre hommage au leadership du Dr Anita White au sein du mouvement international des femmes et du sport et \u00e0 son r\u00f4le dans la cr\u00e9ation de l\u2019IWG.<\/p>\n<p>Le Prix Cath Sweet soutient les femmes qui souhaitent mettre en \u0153uvre des programmes visant \u00e0 promouvoir l&#8217;inclusion sociale par le biais du sport et donnera la priorit\u00e9 aux activit\u00e9s ax\u00e9es sur le handicap.
