Call for Nominations: WomenSport International (WSI) Board of Directors

Nominations are now open for the WomenSport International (WSI) Board of Directors for the 2027-2030 term. We are seeking passionate leaders, scholars, practitioners, and advocates who are committed to advancing gender equity in sport. We especially encourage nominations from individuals with expertise in finance, marketing, fundraising, research, and organizational leadership. Join us in helping guide the future of WSI and creating positive change for girls and women around the world.

Call for Nominations: WomenSport International (WSI) Board of Directors

WomenSport International (WSI) is seeking nominations for upcoming term (January 2027 – December 2030) on its Board of Directors. WSI is a global, research-based advocacy organization dedicated to increasing opportunities and creating positive change for girls and women at all levels of sport and physical activity. Founded in 1994, WSI brings together leaders, scholars, practitioners, and advocates from around the world to advance gender equity in sport. We encourage nominations from individuals who are passionate about advancing opportunities for women and girls in sport and who are interested in contributing to the leadership and future direction of WSI.

This is an opportunity to contribute to improving gender equity in sport through research-informed international advocacy that benefit girls and women around the world.

Members in good standing only are welcome to submit their nominations or that of another WSI member in good standing by October 26th, 2026.

 

Nomination Materials

As per WSI’s constitution, each individual nomination submission requires a one-page bio containing:

  1. A statement (maximum 250 words) describing why the nominee wishes to serve on the WSI Board of Directors and how they can contribute to the mission of WSI.
  2. A brief biographical statement. The statement should contain a description of their background, areas of expertise, and confirmation of their willingness to serve a 4-year term.
  3. A current headshot/photo.

Note: The 4-year term is from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2030. (The current board serves until December 31, 2026.)  A board of director can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

 

Desired Expertise and Skills

WSI values diversity of experiences, perspectives, and professional backgrounds. While all qualified nominees are encouraged to apply, the organization is particularly seeking individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance, accounting, or nonprofit financial management (especially for candidates interested in the Treasurer position)
  • Marketing, communications, branding, and social media engagement
  • Fundraising, sponsorship development, and donor relations
  • Research and scholarship related to girls, women, sport, and physical activity
  • Sport leadership, governance, and policy development
  • Advocacy for gender equity and social change
  • Program development and evaluation
  • International collaboration and cross-cultural engagement

WSI Election Timeline:

  • Nomination Opens: September 14 – October 26 (6 weeks)
  • WSI Board of Directors Candidate Presentations: Thursday, November 12
  • Voting Opens: November 16 – November 23 (1 week)
  • Announcement of the new Board: Monday, December 7, 2027
