On March 17, 2026, WomenSport International (WSI) will join the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) and UN Women at UN CSW in New York City for a timely and impactful conversation on the role of sport in developing women’s leadership worldwide.

Hosted at the Church Center for the United Nations, this panel will explore how participation in sport equips girls and women with critical leadership skills that influence the workforce, strengthen economies, and drive social change. The panel will feature Sarah Axelson, Vice President of Advocacy at the Women’s Sports Foundation, alongside Emily Cameron‑Blake, MSc, MPP, and Dr. Becky Clark from WomenSport International, with a global perspective from Jayathma Wickramanayake, Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships at UN Women. Together, the speakers will share research insights, grassroots education strategies, and public policy approaches needed to expand access and opportunity for girls and women in sport.

Central to the discussion will be clear calls to action, including the need for sustained investment in girls’ and women’s sports and the development of equitable, sustainable sport infrastructure in communities around the world. The conversation will also connect sport participation to leadership outcomes beyond sport, reinforcing the importance of cross‑sector collaboration to advance gender equity globally.
