Invited by UNESCO in recognition of her expertise in global sport policy, Emily contributed to high-level discussions on advancing safe, inclusive, and equitable sport systems worldwide.

UN CSW: Sport as a Pathway to Women’s Leadership: A Global Conversation
WomenSport International (WSI) will join the Women’s Sports Foundation and UN Women on March 17, 2026, in New York City for a panel exploring how sport develops leadership skills that shape economies and societies worldwide. The discussion will highlight research, policy, and advocacy strategies to expand access, investment, and sustainable infrastructure for girls’ and women’s sport globally.
Brazil to Host IWG Secretariat and 2030 Global Summit on Women & Sport
The Brazil Olympic Committee has been selected to host the International Working Group (IWG) on Women & Sport Secretariat for 2026–2030, marking the first time the Secretariat will be based in South America. This historic appointment will culminate in the 10th IWG Global Summit on Women & Sport, to be held in Rio de Janeiro in July 2030.
Diane Huffman and Kari Fasting Champion Change at the 2024 GO Conference
On October 8, 2024, the iconic Olympic Museum became the global stage for advancing gender equality in sport, as leaders, researchers, and advocates convened for the inaugural Global Observatory (GO) Conference. Among the key voices at the event were WomenSport International (WSI) President Diane Huffman and Board Director Professor Kari Fasting, both of whom played pivotal roles in the proceedings.
