Official Launch of Canadian Gender + Equity in Sport Research Hub

December 2020

Canadian Gender+ Equity in Sport Research Hub is officially launched at 12noon – 1:30pm in EST on December 1st. Register at  https://ealliance-launch.illuxi.com/. Simultaneous translation to English, French, Langue de Sign due Quebec (LSQ) $ American Sign Language (ASL) will be available.

“Imagine a gender+ equitable sport landscape where girls and women can flourish freely in their practice.

  • What are the barriers that stand between the current reality and this future?
  • What interventions can facilitate the change necessary to reach this goal?
  • How can research evidence be used to transform the Canadian sport landscape?

These are the questions that E⋅Alliance, the Research Hub for Gender+ Equity in Sport, will address through its work focused on providing the evidence required to support the sport system in achieving gender+ equity.

To officially launch these activities, the 3 co-directors of E⋅Alliance, Dr. Guylaine Demers, Dr. Gretchen Kerr and Dr. Ann Pegoraro invite you to take part in a roundtable discussion with leaders from the Canadian sport system. Join Tricia C.M. Smith, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee, Karen O’Neill, Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, and Vicki Walker, Director General of Sport Canada as they discuss the importance of research for the advancement of gender+ equity in the Canadian sport community.

How can research concretely lead the sport system to achieve its gender+ equity goals by 2035? How does E⋅Alliance intend to carry out its work? How can sports organizations and their various stakeholders use the research evidence produced by E⋅Alliance and apply it in the field? These are all questions that will be addressed during the official launch of this unique Gender+ Equity Research Hub.”
