This September Norwegian Ski Federation and Lillehammer Olympic Legacy center hosted the first digital training-camp for Women Nordic Combined with great support from FIS. Per-Erik Mæhlum, Olympic Legacy center and Linda Svendsrud, Norwegian Ski Federation reported to the FIS Nordic Combined committee last week. The camp had 60 participants from 17 nations, who gathered together online to share knowledge, learn and train.
“I think this was a really good initiative from Norway and Lillehammer. The camp organizers did a very good and important job, we really appreciate this, says Race Director Lasse Ottesen, who also participated and shared information from FIS during the camp.
The camp is the first ever digital camp in Nordic Combined, and this summer’s only international event. The four-day camp comprised four physical sessions for the female athletes, as well as daily lectures for athletes and coaches. The goal was to share knowledge about development and training for the female athlete. Specially during puberty. Some of the highlights were scientist Guro Strøm-Solli and Vegard Rasdals lecture on the latest research connected to «the female skier». Kerstin Löschler shared useful information regarding equipment control, Einar and Jens Lurås-Oftebro shared their experience from their own development and Mikko Kokslien and Akito Watabe shared insights from their careers. The camp was streamed and can be watched on YouTube.
“We are proud to organize and contribute to sharing of knowledge and development in Nordic Combined. Our ambition is to make this camp an annual event, hopefully as a physical camp for both genders next year” says Ivar Stuan, Norwegian Ski Federation
